Cellphone photography has set me free. Much as I love drawing, I have always been frustrated by how long it takes to capture an image that might change within moments. With a camera that fits in one's palm and adjusts to all lighting conditions, it's easy to hone in on revelatory details even finer than meet the eye. Thus armed, I explore our beautiful neighborhoods, capturing the gems of nature in all directions, from cloudscapes to dappled and grizzled trees, to the tiny, fierce faces at the heart of the prettiest blossoms. With just as little technical hassling, I can also stumble out of bed, and capture the fruit fandangos my husband Marshall Norstein concocts for my consumption each morning.
