I work in a variety of mediums. Photography, book arts , collage and encaustic- these are my favorite mediums. Most of the time I begin with a photograph. Although I started creating photographs in the darkroom now it is all done digitally. Within a photograph an entire narrative can be explored with light, people, animals and objects. Books captured my imagination as they had a beginning and an end. Collage and encaustic painting frees me from the digital trance my imagination becomes seduced and sometimes trapped into. I like the feel of glue and wax on my hands.
I explore female transitions, from adolescence to child bearing to post menopausal in my photographs. With my altered booked I show how you can recycle the paper to make beautiful unique objects. All of the processes become cathartic and help to examine and center my thoughts and my well being.
