Cathleen McCoy Bristol is a former instructor at the Newark School of Fine and Industrial Art, the Junior Museum of the Newark Museum and Arts Unbound. Cathy has freelanced as a fashion illustrator and painter focusing mostly on portraits figure work and landscapes. Cathy has many paintings in private collections and is often commissioned for work.

"Art introduced me to diversity in my childhood. Believing people are as individual as snowflakes, I have always been fascinated by variations in the human race and enjoyed the cultural differences. This led me to explore diverse expressions of tradition and the beauty people hold. My endeavor is to portray the beauty of all peoples.

The more I learned to celebrate differences, the more similarities I found in people of different backgrounds. There is the common need of love, comfort, education, health, acceptance, family, security, and the belief in something greater than oneself, etc. I like to introduce "people to people,"

I have also expanded my work to include landscapes, city scapes, still lives, spiritual subjects and animals.

Though I use color generously, I have enjoyed the challenge of more limited color pallettes in my most recent work such as bllack, white and grays, as well as sepia.
